Yesterday, the share price of Eastman Kodak Common Stock fell to 47 cents.  For months, rumors of bankruptcy have clouded the future of Rochester’s fourth largest employer.  On Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the former blue chip company was considering seeking bankruptcy protection if a last-ditch business deal did not go through.  If Kodak enters bankruptcy, health insurance benefits and other coverage for retirees might not continue. At certain spots along I-490 there are signs that say, “Speed Zone Ahead.” Have you noticed them before? 100 yards or so later, the speed limit is reduced. Thus, whenever you see this sign, you know that you need to slow down. That is what the Department of Transportation means by a “speed zone.” Perhaps western New York is fortunate that the State Government has not yet created signs that say, “Economic Speed Zone Ahead,” because if it did, we would see them all over Monroe, Orleans, Niagara, Erie, Genesee, Livingston and Wyoming Counties.
